Hi to all,

Am here again asking for your help on "how to get a certified true copy of passport?" My husband will use this in filing his Tax.

Thank's a lot in advance!

Go to the DFA office which issued your RP passport and ask for an official letter certifying an attached photocopy as a "true copy" of the passport.

Hi felixDcat, how are you today...

I'm already here in the US, My hubby just filed his income tax and sent our marriage contract and zerox copy of my visa and I-94 with his ITR and W2. Do we need to submit a certified true copy of passport in filing income tax? or this only applies to the couples that their wife are still in the Philippines?

I am interested in this too for my taxes last year. Can a foreign spouse overseas be listed and deducted and if so what are the requirements for filing a joint return with a spouse overseas? - Brent

In order to file a joint return, she will need an ITIN. You need to download form W-7 and carefully follow the instructions before attaching it to the Form 1040. It goes to the IRS in Austin, Texas where they will issue the ITIN. In the space where it asks for her SSN or ITIN you just put "ITIN APPLIED FOR".

Go to a notary and ask for a "Copy Certification". Take the original and copy with you so they can see it is an authentic copy. Its that easy.

Thanks Parx, i already got the certified true copy of my passport while my husband was here. Filed it last Feb. 14 and got it last March 1. Too bad i didn't knew that DFA doesn't allow husband's who accompany you during transaction so my poor lil hubby waited for me outside. Good thing the release didn't take too long. He is right now on his plane back to US (the sad part sigh!)... so im so sad right now cuz i miss him so much. sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif
