This forums has been very helpful to me since i started my K-1 journey. Now that i am a US Citizen, i have the desire to start  working on documents to bring my mom here in the US. I have some concerns about my documents. First, my middle name when i was single ( as reflects in my birth certificate) is spelled Caloña..and in my mom's birth certificate her maiden name is Calonia. Would this be a big issue/problem in my petition? How can i fix that? Aside from birth certificate, what other documents do i need to attach to my application. In my school record like transcripts it doesnt bear my mom's name. Does pictures of me and my mom is also needed?

Thank you very much for your help. God bless!

Claire

I-130, Petition for Alien Relative

From the instructions for I-130 (PDF)

3. What documents do you need to show that you are a U.S. citizen?
A. A copy of your birth certificate, issued by a civil registrar, vital statistics office, or other civil authority showing
that you were born in the United States;
B. A copy of your naturalization certificate or certificate of citizenship issued by USCIS or the former Immigration
and Naturalization Service (INS);
C. A copy of Form FS-240, Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA), issued by a U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate;
D. A copy of your unexpired U.S. passport; or
E. An original statement from a U.S. consular officer verifying that you are a U.S. citizen with a valid passport.
If you do not have any of the above documents and you were born in the United States, see the What if an official
document is not available section of these Instructions.

You only need one of these to show that you are US citizen. This is just a list of the accepted documents.

5. What documents do you need to prove family relationship?
You have to prove that there is a family relationship between you and the beneficiary. If you are filing for a relative
listed below, submit the following documentation to prove the family relationship.
...
F. A mother: Submit a copy of your birth certificate showing your name and your mothers name.

Your naturalization papers or US passport for proof of citizenship and your birth certificate are the needed documents for a US citizen to petition their mother.

The spelling error is fairly minor as Spanish "ñ" is both "ny" and "ni" in English spelling. There is a process for correcting clerical errors on civil documents in Philippines. This can be filed at an LCRO (Local Civil Registry Office) in Philippines or at the overseas consulate responsible for your place of residence.
Philippine Consulate Los Angeles CA, USA: Administrative Correction in the Civil Register Entries->WHAT SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS ARE REQUIRED FOR CORRECTING A CLERICAL OR TYPOGRAPHICAL ERROR IN A CIVIL REGISTRY DOCUMENT?. The title of the process will vary on other consulate websites. Just look for correction of civil documents at the consulate you work with.

Philippine Statistics Authority: Problems and Solutions->Different from the middle name entered in the birth certificate
(Your LCRO is your Philippine Consulate)

The adventure continues
Fritz

May you find what you want in life,
know it when you see it and
have the good luck to get it
... and keep it!!!
