My wife is now an American citizen. Her Philippine passport, still in her maiden name, expired a while ago. She has never reported her marriage to the Philippine government. And we have no children yet.
She would like to:
- Renew her Philippine citizenship – that is, be a dual citizen
- Report her marriage
- Get a new passport in her married name.
We live in Pennsylvania and would have to use the consulate in New York City.
What is the best way to go about getting this done? What are the steps we need to take? Looking at the consulate website it looks like you fill out a dual citizen application and can either mail it in asking for an appointment or you can just show up in person with it some morning.
We’d like to get all three things mentioned above done in one long day in New York, if possible. Of
course, the actual resulting documents would be mailed to us later. What’s the best way to go about trying to get that done? Or, do we have to report her marriage before going in for dual citizenship?
They do have an email we can contact them thru, but before doing that I’d like to get the benefit of what members here have to say.
