irrelevant to the content of this thread but something in the grammar of the topic title...a man asked me..why most of the filipino people use ME instead of I..Me is 58 or Me and hubby...it is not right to say I is 58 or I and hubby.....Sorry for my retard head ..just want to know the difference of using Me and I...
Subject vs. Direct Object; "I" is a pronoun that must be the subject of a verb. "Me" is a pronoun that must be the object of the verb. The easiest way to decipher the two is to remove the other noun from the sentence and see if it still makes sense. Thus, "Melody and I went to the store." would be correct; "Me and Melody went to the store." would be incorrect. Never-the-less, both are in common usage. On the other hand, "Please come with Melody and me to the park." is correct, while "Please come with Melody and I to the park." is incorrect. Confusion typically arises when the pronoun is mixed with a proper name through the use of an 'and' contruction. For many people taking out the proper name and the word 'and' can help them determine which to use with the 'and'. Most english speakers know "I went to the store." is correct while "Me went to the store" is incorrect.
Thus ends this PSA (Public Service Announcement).
Oh, and SterlingSilver: English please when outside of the dialect areas (unless you also supply the English translation). (Just put it in parens for those that don't know the word ).
